A WISH FOR AVA

For those of you that know Chris and I, you know that we are hyper-competitive people.  It's gotten to the point now that at shows when people ask, we deny that we are friends and call each other frenemies.  We recently decided that maybe we should take this competition thing to the next level and start doing some head to head sketch-off's.  We are still trying to work out the logistics of that, but in the meantime, we agreed that to kick things off, we wanted to help a dear friend of ours.

4 four years ago this month, Ally Takeuchi lost her 3 1/2 year old daughter, Ava Jaymes, to Neuroblastoma, a very rare form of cancer found in children (1 out of 400,000).  Ava fought very hard for a year, but sadly lost her fight on April 17, 2007.  Many of the treatments Ava went through were only partially covered by the insurance companies and different cancer organizations, so we wanted to do something to help and support Ally who has been so good to us and so many others.

So here's the deal.   Chris and I are auctioning off two 9x12 Joker sketches to raise money to put toward the medical bills for Ava's treatments.   A thread has been set up on www.statueforum.com, titled 'AUCTION - A WISH FOR AVA'.  I will also have a link to it under Chris and My threads on the Forum.  This is going to be silent auction style, so the initial bid is going to be $40.  Bids must increase in whole dollar increments (no change), so $1 minimum bids.  No maximum.  If you like the pieces, place a bid on the Auction thread...MAKE SURE YOU PUT DOWN WHICH PIECE YOU ARE BIDDING ON (i.e. $40 - chris or $40 - matt)and then make sure to keep checking back.  The auction ends at the stroke of midnight on Tuesday night.   (Eastern Aussies - 2:00 PM Wed/Brits - 5:00 AM Wed).  The last, highest bid,  time stamped at 11:59 PM EST gets the piece.  The winner of each piece must make payment with 48 hours of the end of the auction, or the piece will be awarded to the next highest bidder.  Winning bids that don't pay will be drawn and quartered...not really (but REALLY).    I will update this page with payment details later on today.

******UPDATE******
Less than 24 hours left everyone......Chris and I are going to make this REALLY interesting now...in addition to the original Joker sketch, the winning bid on each also gets 5 signed prints of your choice from each of our portfolio ($100 value)....do your worst!!!

without further adieu...
